February in Minnesota can be pretty brutal! I was delighted to get away for a few days to sunny Florida, and to experience my first Run Disney event. I absolutely loved participating in the Disney Princess 10k on Saturday, 2/22/25! So fun to experience this and let's just say, another Run Disney event is already in my sights for 2026!

Last minute this trip turned into a solo trip as sadly, my friend and fellow travel advisor had to cancel due to a work emergency. Though so sad for her, I soaked up every minute of the solo trip and solo trips at Disney feel so comfortable and safe!

I arrived in Orlando on Thursday, 2/20, and headed over to Disney's Port Orleans French Quarter Resort on a shuttle through Mears Connect: Driven by Sunshine, which was a smooth experience. Though I had previously stayed at Disney's Port Orleans Riverside Resort and visited the neighboring Port Orleans French Quarter for beignets (as one does), this was my first time actually staying there. And let me say, I absolutely love this relaxing, cozy resort! I arrived at the resort a little before 1 pm, checked in, delivered by bags to bell services, and then grabbed a bite to eat from the quick service, Sassagoula Floatworks. The pulled pork sandwich was amazing and I also took this opportunity to enjoy the beignets! I then lounged by the pool, enjoying the sunshine.

My room was ready by 2:15 and I settled in and unpacked. I then took a wonderful nap for about an hour before heading to the gift shop and hopping on a bus to Disney Springs. After some shopping and a salad at Chicken Guy (yum), I took the boat back to the resort.

On Friday, I began the day by enjoying coffee and breakfast at the resort (complete with Mickey waffle of course)! I walked around the resort and then took the boat over to Disney Springs. I grabbed some cookies to take home from Gideon's Bakehouse and ate lunch at Earl of Sandwich. Then, I headed back on the boat to the resort and soon after, caught the bus over to the Expo, held at ESPN's Wide World of Sports.

The Expo was so fun! It was SO convenient to be staying on property to have the buses to and from the Expo and race-can not imagine doing it any other way! I was at the Expo from 1-3 pm, picking up my race bib and getting a photo in that building, then picking up my race shirt and checking out the merchandise building.

After relaxing briefly at the resort, I headed back over to Disney Springs for a short while and then ate some chicken parmesan pasta from the quick service at the resort. For the evening, I boated over to the neighboring Port Orleans Riverside resort and enjoyed a really good mojito mocktail at the River Roost lounge while listening to the beginning of Yeehaw Bob's piano show-so fun! I headed back to the resort and settled into bed at 10 pm, falling asleep around 11:00.

Saturday was race day and I awoke at 2:00 am! This is what I had been the most worried about- the early wake-up, which ended up to be no biggie. I was so excited and turned on some Disney music while getting ready. I caught the 3:20 bus over to the race.

There is a bit of a walk to the corrals, but this was actually the perfect warm-up walk. As we entered EPCOT, there was a cast member offering to take pictures with the EPCOT ball in the background so I waited a few minutes and did this before walking over to all the race festivities.

The race had such fun vibes! I did a combo of run/walk and didn't stick to any rigid intervals, just did what came naturally. I started off running the first half mile. I also ran on any downhill and then kept running for awhile, and same when I saw any Photopass photographer! I walked any uphill points-which there were just a few. I ended up running and walking faster than usual just probably due to the fun and energy of race day!

After the race, I headed back on the bus (so convenient) to the resort to shower and then grabbed a bus to Magic Kingdom. I hopped on the monorail and headed over to Disney's Contemporary Resort to Steakhouse 71 for my 10:00 am breakfast reservation. I adored the steak and eggs and I always love this restaurant with all of its Disney nostalgia, including pics of Walt and Lillian.

I then headed over to Magic Kingdom and got pictures taken with my medal- so fun!
